Constant traffic, dirt, and routine cleanings. Stonhard floors are built to take it!

How long will your floor last? That depends on selecting the right floor for your space. Stonhard evalutes the conditions present in your environment and formulates your floor for those areas. We work with you to ensure your floor is engineered to stand up to traffic in your facility, whether foot or mechanical, so that it will resist wear for years to come. Not only that, we expertly install your floor too, so you can count on it being done right.

What is Wear-Resistant Flooring?

When evaluating flooring materials, wear resistance refers to the life of the floor. How will it hold up under foot and mechanical traffic? Will continuous use of the surface cause scuff and scratch marks? Some surfaces hold up better than others. Wear-resistant floors are specially formulated to stand up to harsh conditions and heavy traffic. They also stand up to dirt, grime and routine cleanings.

To be sure a floor will be wear-resistant, make sure it is tested to meet standards set forth by the American Society for Testing and Materials. (ASTM D-4060, CS-17 http://www.astm.org/Standards/D4060.htm

FAQ

Got questions? We've got answers. This FAQ section covers the most common inquiries about wear-resistant flooring to help you make informed decisions.

There are several factors that will affect how long resinous floors stand up to daily wear. Choosing the right floor for the space is the first factor in ensuring longevity. The quality of the installation is also key. High-traffic areas subjected to heavy machinery or chemical exposure will wear faster. Regular cleaning and good cleaning procedures will positively affect the floor’s ability to stand up to wear. In addition, environmental factors like UV exposure, temperature fluctuations, and moisture will affect a floor. A well-installed and maintained floor should last 5-10 years without showing significant signs of wear and may even last longer depending on the space.

Regular cleaning with a mop or soft nylon brush and a neutral pH cleaner are usually sufficient. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive tools that could damage the floor.

Wear-resistant resinous floors can be made slip-resistant by incorporating anti-slip additives in the topcoat. This ensures safety even in high-traffic areas.

Yes, these floors can be customized with different colors, patterns, and finishes to meet specific aesthetic and functional requirements.
